Born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Melissa Swink has been a full-time business owner since March 2012. She left a career in operations and logistics to pursue process improvement consulting—but quickly discovered that Virtual Assisting was a better solution to the problems faced by many business owners. Her clients didn’t have the capacity, knowledge, or in-house expertise to handle all of their administrative and marketing tasks, so she stepped in to fill that gap.
After reaching capacity, Melissa realized she had locked herself into the same problem as her clients—no space to grow and no time freedom. She released her DIY mentality and built her own team. Today, Melissa Swink & Co. is a full-service VA team with decades of combined experience in online business management and support.
Melissa is incredibly passionate about the work her team does. She sees the results of their services every day and is proud that they are helping business owners avoid the burnout that too often leads to business closures and mental health issues. The team is built on a mission of supporting clients with integrity and intentionality. They support scalable and sustainable growth in their clients’ businesses, and Melissa strives to take that same deliberate approach when expanding their own services.
She feels privileged to connect people who need help in their businesses with those who can meet those needs. As she’s built her team, Melissa has made it a priority to promote equity around the globe. Her team members are paid based on skills and experience, no matter where they are located.
Melissa also hosts the podcast “Make Space for More,” which unveils the blueprint to entrepreneurial success. Whether listeners are trapped in the cycle of overwork or striving to maximize their business’s potential, “Make Space for More” equips them with the tools and mindset shifts needed to thrive.

Outside of work, Melissa enjoys spending time with her daughter and their sweet-but-mischievous cats. She loves being in the kitchen cooking breakfast, lunch, or dinner—and obsessively timing everything to finish at the same time. Although they enjoy going out to eat, they tend to eat meals at home, especially Mexican and Italian food.
In her spare time, she loves to unwind with a glass of wine and a good book, watch a movie, or listen to music with her daughter. The two also volunteer at a local animal shelter. Melissa lives in a small city and loves urban environments, so visiting Chicago as often as possible is a favorite treat. When she gets the chance to do something indulgent, she heads straight to the spa for massages, facials, and peace and quiet.
